The Columbia Rise Award is open to alumni who have earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia, and who will be starting a graduate program with us in Fall 2019. It’s equal to four credit hours of tuition during the Fall and Spring semesters. The School of Graduate Studies can provide more information at gradstudy@colum.edu.

Chicago Feminist Film Festival
The Chicago Feminist Film Festival showcases independent, international films—predominantly shorts spanning documentary, fiction, and experimental genres—and aims to address issues of gender, sexuality, race, and other forms of inequality often missing from mainstream media. Join your fellow alumni at this annual film fest, co-directed by faculty members Michelle Yates and Susan Kerns, at Columbia College Chicago February 27-March 1. With awards season upon us, former faculty member Daniel Stiepleman, the screenwriter of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex, recalls finding his voice and getting his big Hollywood break with the help of Karen Loop, associate dean of Los Angeles programs.
