    Jimmy Odom, Delivery Man

"Zombies are why WeDeliver exists,” says Jimmy Odom (’12), founder and CEO of the innovative Chicago delivery service. This origin story began in 2012, when Odom’s mom asked him to run to the pharmacy during a particularly climactic episode of The Walking Dead.

    Inside Job

Do you have that story start you’re not quite sure about? Do you miss the energy and audience of the semi-circle? Do you just need to “give a word”? We’ve got the solution! Join us as we kick off Story Week 2015 with free mini-workshops for Columbia College Fiction Writing alumni and general public by John Schultz, Devon Polderman, and Elizabeth Yokas.

After the workshops, catch up with old friends, or make new ones at the Alumni Reception. Enjoy noshing on a free buffet, co-sponsored by the Fiction Writing Department and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Then find a seat so you can enjoy the 6:15 pm performance of 2nd Story, an evening of personal narrative storytelling and music hosted by Megan Stielstra and Bobby Biedrzycki. Featured storytellers are Deb R. Lewis, Eric Hazen, Alexis Pride, and Wyl Villacres, accompanied by the music of Brakes on the Highway.

For more information, contact Cyn Vargas in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations or Chris DeGuire in the Department of Creative Writing.

We hope you will also take advantage of other free Story Week events offered from March 15-21, featuring authors Chris Abani, Edwidge Danticat, Samantha Irby, Mitchell S. Jackson, Marlon James, Stephanie Kuehnert, Audrey Niffenegger, playwrights Kia Corthron and Regina Taylor, and others. Visit Story Week for more information.
